Had an issue once with a missing watch. They were helpful once they received the watch back, but had a hard time trying to track the watch down . They weren't too helpful with Customer Service.

The "chat line" help is very tedious to use.. slow and their staff seem inexperienced and unfamiliar with the organization and the website. Buyer must beware because they do not take back anything after a month and more often than not, they require you to pay shipping to return even if defective.

I have only bought from them a few times but so far I`ve had no problems. My only gripe is that they advertise "Site-Wide Free Shipping" and yet, that doesn`t apply to books, music, or games. Why say "Site-Wide" if its not?

Fairly good selection of merchandise, however, a great proportion of the items are sold as reconditioned. Prices tend to be on the high side. Shipping is reasonable.

Overstock is really great. All sorts of things available although sometimes they lack certain categories but have an overabundance in others. They always have some sort of sale or coupon available.

My first purchase was a large item....a piece of furniture. I used a coupon to receive a 12% discount as a new customer, but the coupon did not work. I emailed customer service immediately after submitting the order and they did reply but, by that time, the coupon expired so I had to do a cache search and provide them with links and pictures to prove that the coupon ever existed. I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that they did not have a record of such discounts, especially ones that had so recently expired.
After eventually proving my case, I thought that a credit would be applied to my credit card but they gave me a "store credit" instead. This, of course, meant that I had to make a second purchase in oder to receive the discount on the first purchase, which was not a requirement of the initial coupon.
Simply to avoid an argument, I placed a second order which totaled less than the store credit, so I should have still had a credit balance. When I placed the second order, I used another coupon to receive an 8% discount on any order, with no stipulations regarding minimum purchase or anything else. Throughout the process, there was a banner at the top of the page that stated that the 8% coupon had been activated but, in the end, I still did not receive the discount AND the balance of my credit had disappeared.
I finally figured out that the coupon was not accepted because the so-called "store credit" which was technically my money all along, had been automatically applied as a coupon rather than a credit, and only one coupon can be used at a time. Again, I wrote to customer service and explained that, in addition to the fact that the balance of my store credit disappeared, their error in applying that credit also blocked the use of a coupon on my second purchase. Eventually they wrote back and said that they had issued another store credit for the balance that disappeared, but the coupon was not mentioned. After reviewing my account at Overstock, I found a notation on my first order that indicated a refund in the exact amount of the balance that I should have had, but no credit balance appears on my account and they did not credit the amount to my credit card. This notation appeared on the furniture order as "items returned", which tells me that they have no idea how to correct their mistakes.
The bottom line is that the 12% cash discount that I should have received for simply being a new customer was actually traded for an item that I didn't really want, and I even ended up having to pay much more for that item because of their repeated mistakes. Needless to say, attempting to use a coupon at Overstock.com is a total waste of time, as is attempting to deal with customer service, and I will never shop there again.

I love to buy from overstock! It is one of the best resources I have found to find almost everything, and shipping is so cheap. They ship very fast, too. I usually get my items within 5 days. I am a frequent shopper there, and love to use the codes to save even more money for them. I highly recommend a person to shop there.

I find Overstock to be hit or miss. When they have good merchandise, they definitely have good merchandise and the price is good. They monitor other sites and the price is always comparable to what is being offered elsewhere. When they move merchandise out, it's a great price. My reservation is the customer service. I don't think that they are really customer driven. They offer no price guarantees on merchandise... if they move a price lower they don't offer that lower price to you if you've already purchased (like some other very well-known sites). That makes a difference. Also, customer service has a tendency to "argue" with customers. Not very professional or consistent. It's a hit or miss thing. If you don't have problems, I guess they're okay. But if you have issues... look out, you're on your own!

I use Overstock mostly for DVD's and don't like that you never get the free shipping or % off if you only order those items. They have a good selection and good prices so I do continue to go back. Shipping time is usually pretty reasonable, too. Customer Service is okay, but I have emailed questions and never gotten any response, but the last time I complained, they gave me a $5 credit. I felt it could have been more with the way they ignored my questions previously, but I guess I'm happy with the $5..........at least it was something!
