FAQ
-
How long does it take for a cash back rebate to be posted to my account after I have placed an order at a Mr. Rebates' store?
Most orders are reported in a short time from either the ship date or order date depending on merchant policy. On average, rebates get credited to your "Pending Rebates" section within 1-3 business days (sometimes earlier) from the order date or the ship date.
However, it can take up to 14 days after the order date for Mr. Rebates to receive confirmation of the purchase or that an offer has been completed.
A confirmation email is sent to your registered email address shortly after your cash back posts to your Mr. Rebates' account.
-
How do I shop at a Mr. Rebates' store and earn cash back?
To get a cash back rebate, click on your desired store link and make your purchase in that same click session. Your click-through from Mr. Rebates activates a code in the store's shopping cart that will make sure that you are credited with the rebate.
Each order from a participating store requires a unique click-through from Mr. Rebates. If you are making multiple orders then make sure you have a separate store click for each corresponding order.
Please note that rebates do not show up in a store's shopping cart. Rebates are credited a few days later in your Mr. Rebates' account.
-
Why I am being logged out of Mr. Rebates after successfully logging in?
If you are continually being logged off of Mr. Rebates after you successfully login, your browser "cookie" settings may not be allowing the Mr. Rebates website to work correctly. Please make sure your current browser cookie settings are set to the "default" values.
-
Can I still get a rebate if I forgot to click-through to a store at Mr. Rebates?
Unfortunately, orders placed outside of Mr. Rebates do not qualify for cash back rebates. If the rebate is important to you then the only other thing that can be done is to cancel the original order and re-order through a Mr. Rebates link. That decision is up to you however.
-
Are orders placed via telephone or in-store purchases eligible for rebates?
Only orders placed online through a Mr. Rebates' store link are eligible for rebates.
-
What happens if I exchange a product or make changes to an order?
Contacting a store to change an order (even for an exchange) can sometimes negate the cash back rebate. The reason for this is that some stores will negate the first original order and generate a new order that does not have a rebate tied to it.
When making changes to an order, our best advice would be to cancel your original order and re-order through Mr. Rebates (if the rebate is important to you).
-
Do I have to do anything special when checking out of an online store from Mr. Rebates?
Not at all. As long as you have clicked on a link to an online partner store through the Mr. Rebates web site and you are a logged-in member then you don't need to do anything special when you are checking out of a store and purchasing your items. You also don't need to email us confirmation of your purchase as we will receive confirmation from the merchant.
-
What is the difference between "Pending Cash Back" and "Available Cash Back"?
Pending Cash Back rebates are initially posted to your account upon initial receipt of an order from one of our partner stores. Pending Cash Back rebates stay in a "Pending" state for 90 days (based on the "Posting Date") to account for different store return policies, order cancellations and to provide ample time for collection of commissions from stores.
Once Pending Cash Back rebates have moved to Available status, those rebates can be "cashed in" by requesting a payment via check or Paypal. Please note that you must meet the minimum amount of Available Cash Back rebates needed to request payment which is $10.
-
Can I use coupons featured at Mr. Rebates when I shop at your partner stores?
Absolutely! Be sure that you only use coupons that are posted here at Mr. Rebates as coupons found elsewhere can negate the cash back with most merchants.
Please also make sure that discounts or free offers are present in the shopping cart of the participating merchant. Mr. Rebates is not responsible for coupons that are expired or incorrectly redeemed.
-
Are purchases of gift cards or payment via gift cards eligible for cash back rebates?
Stores listed at Mr. Rebates do not offer cash back for gift card purchases. (some exceptions exist such as gift card only stores)
Also, purchases made with gift card redemption or gift certificate redemption as the full or partial payment method are not eligible for cash back rebates.
-
How do I get started with Mr. Rebates?
This is a longer answer but serves as a "Mr. Rebates 101" on the basics of using Mr. Rebates:
- First, register with Mr. Rebates. Your registration identifies you to the Mr. Rebates website and insures that you get cash back credited to your unique account.
- After registering with Mr. Rebates, you will be automatically logged in. For those who have come back to the site at a later date, you must insure that you are logged in each time you shop with Mr. Rebates by checking that your registered email address is shown in the top right-hand corner.
- Logged-in users can then shop at any of over 3000 stores by using the following methods of finding the store desired:
- View the All Stores page to get an alphabetical list of all stores at Mr. Rebates.
- Browse stores by category in the drop down navigation under "Stores" I.E. Shoes, Computers, etc.
- Search for a store name by simply typing in that store name into the search box in the top-left hand corner. I.E. "jcpenney", "walmart", etc.
- After you have clicked a cash back store, make sure you complete the purchase in that same click session to insure the cash back rebate is credited to your account.
- Do not click or surf to other discount, coupon or comparison shopping websites after clicking through to a store as cash back rebate tracking can be lost if store links are clicked on other websites and a cash back rebate will not be credited to your account.
- Rebates are credited to your Mr. Rebates account usually within 1-35 business days of the ship date of your order although the wait time does vary from store to store. You will receive a confirmation email when the rebate is credited.
- After $10 in Available Rebates are accrued to your account, you can request either a rebate check be sent to a postal address location or payment via Paypal, Venmo or Amazon gift card.
-
How do I shop at a cash back store?
First, make sure you are logged in to the Mr. Rebates web site. You will be able to verify that you are logged in by viewing your registered email address in the top right-hand corner of the screen under the main banner.
Next, find the store that you would like to shop with and simply click on that store's link. Don't worry, if you are not logged in, a warning screen will display asking you to login or register.
After you are redirected to the store's website, simply purchase items just as you would normally do, checkout and the cash back rebate will be reported to your Mr. Rebates account a few days after the ship date of the order or sometimes even earlier depending on the merchant's reporting policy.
-
I want to place multiple orders at a store. What is the best way to insure cash back tracking?
If you are placing multiple orders at a store, you will need to have a unique click-through to that store from Mr. Rebates for each unique order. I.E. Place your first order at the store through a Mr. Rebates' store link, come back to Mr. Rebates, click-through to the store again and place your second order, etc.
-
Will surfing online for coupons or other deal sites affect cash back tracking?
Yes, most coupon codes or coupon links you find outside of Mr. Rebates can void cash back on your purchases.
Coupons from random Internet websites, including coupon sites, are often linked to specific affiliate merchants. This means that, when the code is used in a transaction, the other site will automatically get credit for your purchase, regardless of whether you clicked through Mr. Rebates before ordering.
Bottom Line: Use coupons found only at Mr. Rebates to insure accurate cash back tracking as using other coupons will often interfere with that cash back tracking.
-
Are orders placed via telephone eligible for cash back rebates?
Unfortunately, telephone orders or live chat orders do not qualify for cash back rebates at Mr. Rebates.
In order to qualify for cash back rebates, purchases must be fully completed by clicking through a respective cash back store link and the order must be completed by the user online with no customer service intervention.
Tip: If customer service must be contacted then make sure you do not let customer service generate the order for you as that will not qualify for cash back rebates. Politely tell customer service that you will finish the order yourself online as you are part of a rewards program called Mr. Rebates.
-
Where do I find my cash back rebate account balance?
You can access your cash back rebate account balance on the "My Account" link in the top header of the Mr. Rebates website.
-
After I click through to a store, how long is the shopping session open to earn cash back?
We suggest that you complete your purchase as soon as possible after you click-through to a Mr. Rebates' store. If over 2 hours has elapsed since your click-through occurred, it would be a good idea to re-initiate a new session to that store by clicking through Mr. Rebates again to that same store.
-
Will I receive cash back when I use a mobile app for a Mr. Rebates' store?
It is unlikely that cash back will be awarded from a store's app purchase as most of the stores at Mr. Rebates do not integrate their cash back tracking into their mobile app as of this time.
For example, if you click on a link from Mr. Rebates (on a mobile device) that activates a store app, you will likely not receive cash back because the store would not have integrated cash back tracking into their app.
We suggest that you make your purchase with your mobile browser at the desired store to insure accurate cash back tracking. -
How do I add a store to My Favorites?
Simply go to the store’s coupons page and click the gray star next to the store’s name. The star will become yellow, which indicates that the merchant is now in your My Favorites section.
-
I just finished a purchase. Why isn't it showing up in my account?
Cash-back rebates do not appear immediately in your account.
Each day, Mr. Rebates receives reports from merchants listing qualified transactions (ie, purchases that are eligible for cash back). Once we receive and process this data, the order will appear in your account.
-
How long before the rebate appears in my account?
Reporting time varies from store to store. Generally, cash back will appear within a day or a few days of your order date. However, some stores are slower to alert us to purchases, so we give them up to 14 days to report the purchase.
If your cash back does not post within 14 days, please go to our Help Section, choose Contact Us and fill out a Missing Cash Back form. Please make sure you contact us within 90 days of the order date.
-
Okay, it has been 14 days and my rebate has still not reported. Now what?
If your rebate still has not appeared, please create a claim and a customer service agent will open a claim with merchants who allow a claim process.
Please note that you must report the claim within 90 days of the purchase though.
All claims are subject to the Terms and Conditions that all members agree to when joining Mr. Rebates.
-
What if my rebate amount is wrong?
From time to time, a merchant reports an order amount incorrectly. If it has not been corrected within one week, please contact Customer Support with a Rebate Discrepancy Inquiry and a claim will be opened with merchants who allow a claim process.
All claims are subject to the Terms and Conditions that all members agree to when joining Mr. Rebates.
-
Why did my rebate zero out?
Rebates can be zeroed out (reversed) for several reasons including:
- The merchant processed the order as a "return".
- The merchant reversed the order due to use of an unauthorized coupon.
- The merchant reversed the order due to contact with their customer service department.
If an exchange or partial return was made on an order and the whole order was reversed, please contact Mr. Rebates customer service to open a claim with the merchant.
-
Why did my eBay rebate zero out?
Once a month, eBay sends Mr. Rebates a report of transactions that no longer qualify for cash back. The most common reason is that seller fees were not paid on the order in question. Since eBay commissions from these fees, it must recoup seller fees to offer a commission which means the cash back rebate gets reversed per the Mr. Rebates' terms and conditions.
-
Is there a limit to how much cash back I can earn?
There is no limit to how much you can earn in cash back at Mr. Rebates. This is also true of referral bonuses.
-
What is the difference between "Pending Rebates" and "Available Rebates"?
"Pending Rebates" are initially posted to your account upon initial receipt of an order from one of our partner stores. Pending Rebates stay in a "Pending" state for 90 days (based on the "Posting Date") to account for different store return policies, order cancellations and to provide ample time for collection of commissions from stores.
Once Pending Rebates have moved to Available status, those rebates can be "cashed in" by requesting a payment via check or Paypal. Please note that you must meet the minimum amount of Available Rebates needed to request payment which is $10.
-
How long do my rebates stay "Pending"?
Cash Back Rebates remain pending for 90 days after posting to your account. This time period covers various store policies, such as returns and exchange windows, and allows time to collect the commissions that fund your rebates.
-
When will my rebates become "Available"?
Rebates are automatically moved into "Available" status 90 days from the "posting date". I.E. A rebate that posted on 7/1/2010 would move to "Available" on 9/29/2010.
-
Why is there a wait for "Pending Rebates" to move to "Available"?
Since most merchants have a period when returns and exchanges are allowed, we must provide a similar time frame, in which merchants can adjust rebates when orders are changed.
Please note, merchants have different return and cancellation policies. Ninety days allows us to cover merchant time limits for returns or changes to an order.
-
It has been 90 days and my rebate is still "Pending". What should I do?
Please contact Customer Support and we will assist you further. However, please remember that the 90-day period begins on the date the transaction posts to your account, not the date that the order takes place.
-
Are purchases of gift cards eligible for cash back rebates?
Purchases of gift cards or e-gift cards are not eligible for cash back rebates.
-
Will I get a rebate if I pay with a gift card?
Probably not. Whether you use it to pay for the whole order or just part of one, a gift card generally voids cash back on your purchases.
-
Can I check out other websites after clicking through Mr. Rebates?
We understand that comparison shopping is important. However, surfing away from the Mr. Rebates site during a transaction may cause tracking problems for your transactions. This can result in rebates not posting to your account.
We suggest that once you are done comparison shopping, you return to Mr. Rebates and click through to the merchant one more time and make your final purchase.
-
I comparison shop, but I just open new browser tabs. That's okay, right?
Unfortunately, no. Having too many windows or tabs open can confuse tracking systems and award the commission to another website. Again, we suggest that you finish comparison shopping, close all other windows or tabs, and then click through Mr. Rebates one last time for your final purchase.
-
If I pay for an order in installments, will my rebate be affected?
No, the order will still be eligible for cash back.
-
Can I get a rebate for a pre-order?
Pre-Orders are not suggested if the cash back tracking is important to you as pre-orders will likely have issues with cash back.
-
If I purchase a subscription, will I get cash back each time it renews?
Unless explicitly stated, subscriptions come with a one-time rebate. Auto-renewals are not eligible for cash back. This is also true of auto-delivery or "auto-ship" programs.
-
Can I use more than one cash back program for a purchase?
No, Mr. Rebates cannot be combined with other cash back programs or rewards sites.
-
Are taxes, service fees or shipping eligible for rebates?
No, taxes, along with any fees charged by the merchant, are not eligible for cash back.
-
Can I get cash back on warranties?
Extended warranties that are sold along with merchandise are not eligible for cash back. This includes plans such as travel insurance.
-
I don't live in the U.S. or Canada. Will I get cash back on my purchases?
Most international orders are eligible for cash back. However, we cannot guarantee that you will receive rebates for your purchases due to some of the internal merchant policies with international orders.
-
How does the Mr. Rebates' Refer-a-Friend program work?
First, Mr. Rebates offers several "Refer-a-Friend" tools to help you recruit other members which can all be found on the Refer-a-Friend page.
Once a new member signs up from a qualifying referral link or uses your email address as their direct referrer, that new member becomes your direct referral which can be found on your My Referrals page.
When your direct referral earns cash back rebates at Mr. Rebates, your account will get a "referral rebate" equal to 20% of that original rebate (within 24 hours of the original rebate being created). Please note that your bonus does not affect your referrals rebates in any way.
-
What methods are provided for me to refer new members?
Mr. Rebates provides many different ways to help you get referrals and spread the word about Mr. Rebates including:
-
Do I get referral rebates when my direct referral refers a new member?
The Mr. Rebates' Refer-a-Friend program rewards "direct" referrals only.
-
Can I refer myself?
No. Customers may only maintain one account per the Mr. Rebates' terms and conditions.
-
How do I know who I've referred?
When people you refer sign up with Mr. Rebates, their email addresses will appear under the My Referrals link in your Account Summary.
-
If people follow my referral link, do they have to input my email address too?
No, referrals can either click on your link or they can list your email address. There is no need to do both but if they do, that is OK also.
-
I referred my friends, but I don't see them in my list.
Often, your friends simply have not had time to sign up yet. However, if you know that they have created an account with us, please contact us and we will link the two accounts per allowable Terms and Conditions.
-
Many people are following my referral links, but I'm only credited with a couple of referrals. Why?
First, please remember that not everyone who follows your link is going to sign up as a Mr. Rebates member.
The Mr. Rebates' refer-a-friend program utilizes Internet cookies to reward referrals and is a very accurate system that is tested on a regular basis.
If you feel that you are not being credited properly for certain referrals, please contact us with the potential email addresses of those who signed-up and customer service can look into the issue further.
-
I forgot to put in the email of the person who referred me. Is it too late?
Not at all! Please contact us and provide your friend's email address. We will add you to that person's list of referrals per allowable Terms and Conditions.
-
Why didn't I get a referral rebate on my friend's manual adjustment?
Manual adjustments are not subject to the Referral Buy Bonus per the Mr. Rebates' terms and conditions.
-
How do I build a referral link to a specific page on Mr. Rebates?
You can use the Build a Referral Link page to create a referral link to specific pages on Mr. Rebates. Please note that you should only link to pages that are "public" pages of Mr. Rebates and pages that require a login such as the "Account Summary" page, etc.
-
Can I use a coupon that I found outside of Mr. Rebates?
No, most coupon codes you find outside of Mr. Rebates will void cash back on your purchases or negate the cash back tracking. With that being said, there are some merchants that may allow the "stacking" of coupons and cash back but we certainly advise our customers that using coupons from outside sources will void the cash back per our Terms and Conditions.
Your best bet is to use any coupon displayed at Mr. Rebates as those coupons are specifically approved for use with Mr. Rebates and will not affect cash back.
-
Can I use a coupon displayed on the merchant's website?
If the offer is visible on the merchant's website then it should not interfere with your cash back.
There are some stores that will void cash back even for coupons listed on their site, if the offer is not also listed on Mr. Rebates. In those cases, Mr. Rebates will state in the restrictions "Coupons found outside of Mr. Rebates will void cash back."
-
What about coupons that the merchant sends me directly?
These are usually not eligible for rebates. Be sure to check out our coupons for the merchant though. We may have a similar (or an even better) deal that will get you cash back in addition to approved coupon savings.
-
A coupon from Mr. Rebates is not working correctly. What should I do?
Please Contact Us so that we can test the coupon ourselves and determine if the discount is expired or if there are restrictions that may be causing issue with the coupon.
-
After I checked out, I noticed your coupon didn't work. Will you credit my account?
Mr. Rebates offers coupons as a courtesy to customers so that you can get the best deal possible. However, Mr. Rebates has no control over how a merchant applies or honors the coupons. As such, it is your responsibility be sure the coupon has been accepted before you check out.
If the discount is important to you, we can suggest that you cancel the order and begin a new one.
-
Can I get cash back if I use a gift card or store credit?
Purchases made with gift cards or store credit are not eligible for cash back.
-
Can I get cash back if I purchase a gift card?
Purchases of gift cards or e-gift cards are not eligible for cash back rebates.
-
What if the gift card only pays for part of my order?
Unfortunately, merchants do not distinguish between a partial payment by gift card and a full payment using one so cash back tracking may be affected adversely.
-
What is the minimum payment amount to cash-out my rebates?
You need $10 in "Available Rebates" to cash-out via Paypal, Amazon Gift Card, Venmo or check by postal mail.
-
How do I request a payment?
Go to Request Check, Request Gift Card, Request Venmo or Request PayPal based on your payment preference. The system will ask you to verify your address, either physical or Paypal email, before you confirm your request.
-
When will I receive my payment after I have requested the payment?
All payments are sent at the beginning of each month for the previous month's payment requests. For example, payment requests made from September 1-30 will be processed on the first business day of October.
-
I confirmed the wrong address! What do I do?
Simply go to your Account Summary and change your address information on the Change Account page. As long as the payment has not already been sent (usually before the 1st of the month), your postal address or Paypal email address change will be applied to your payment.
-
Will I pay fees if I receive my payment through Paypal?
No, Mr. Rebates pays any fees associated with receiving payment with Paypal.
-
I live outside the US/Canada can I still get a check via postal mail?
Mr. Rebates does not send checks outside of the United States or Canada. International payments are processed exclusively with PayPal.
-
I live outside the U.S. Can I still receive funds via Paypal?
PayPal will allow us to send money to many different countries. If you live in one of those places, we will be happy to send you the funds. However, please be aware that PayPal will not send funds to residents in some countries. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are eligible to receive the payments you request.
-
What if my check does not get delivered correctly via the postal mail?
Depending on where you live, delivery times can vary greatly. We ask that you wait until 15 days have passed after the first of the month before contacting Customer Service for further assistance.
-
What if I cannot locate my Paypal payment?
Please contact us to help you track down the status of any Paypal payment made by Mr. Rebates.
-
What if I lose my check?
Please contact us for further assistance. Payment verifications will be performed, a stop payment will be put on the old check and a new one will be issued.
-
I can't find one of your stores. Where did it go?
From time to time, stores end their participation in affiliate programs. In such cases, we will remove them from our lists and our search results.
-
Why won't a store link work correctly?
Usually, customers experience this problem when the store is temporarily down for maintenance. We suggest you wait a short period of time and try again. If you have repeated trouble accessing a store, please contact us and we will investigate the matter further.
-
My order was never delivered to me. Can you contact the store?
Mr. Rebates is a portal website only. For questions about orders, you will need to contact the store directly.
-
Can you add my favorite store to your site?
Many stores do not participate in affiliate networks. However, if you feel strongly about a particular store, please contact us and we will see if the merchant can be added.
-
Does each store have different restrictions?
By and large, stores have similar policies. These are set out in our Terms and Conditions under "Eligibility". However, some stores have special rules that they want highlighted. These are listed under the "Restrictions" link on the store's landing page.
-
What is a claim?
If an order you placed through Mr. Rebates is not awarded with cash back from a merchant then you can file a "claim" with that merchant by using this page. Once the purchase information is validated, a claim will be opened on your behalf with said merchant as detailed in the Mr. Rebates' terms and conditions.
-
Why does a claim have to be opened for a missing cash back rebate?
Mr. Rebates funds your cash back through commissions on your purchases. When a rebate does not post automatically, this indicates we have not received a commission. We need the merchant to verify that it will compensate Mr. Rebates before a manual rebate can be added to an account.
-
How long will my claim take?
Claims generally take 1-4 weeks. We do strive to resolve these cases quickly. However, we have to wait for the merchant to respond to our queries and this can take time. Please be patient and know that you will be contacted as soon as an answer is received from the merchant.
-
What if the merchant denies the claim?
Unfortunately, if a merchant denies your claim, you will not receive cash back for your purchase.
-
Can I appeal a denied claim?
Unfortunately, a merchant's decision is final. In certain cases, we can ask for clarification on a specific point. However, the merchant is under no obligation to provide further information.
-
Why aren't my orders being posted as cash back rebates?
There are many potential reasons that your orders are not posting automatically.
- First and foremost, please remember that your purchases can take up to 7 days after the ship date of the order to report from the merchant to Mr. Rebates.
- From a technical standpoint, please make sure that you are not running cookie-blocking or ad-blocking software. This is common in certain settings on anti-virus, anti-spyware programs. Also, make sure cookies are enabled in your browser. (including third party cookies!)
- Also, make sure you do not surf to other websites after clicking through Mr. Rebates to the merchant. If this is unavoidable, please click through Mr. Rebates again before you finish the transaction.
- Remember that coupons found outside Mr. Rebates may void cash back. These can include offers mailed to you directly by the merchant.
- In extreme cases, we often suggest to try a different PC on a new Mr. Rebates' order either in your household or business workplace. If the new order tracks correctly on this different PC then it is most likely some type of setting on your previous PC that is causing issues.
There may also be other errors or omissions such as PC issues and other unforeseen issues. If your orders are not appearing in your account on a regular basis, please contact us.
-
Why can't I get past the login page?
When this happens, it is almost always due to a cookie or web browser issue.
Please insure that your browser is setup to accept cookies and that you have no security software installed on your PC that is blocking cookies from Mr. Rebates.
-
Can I have Ad Block programs installed such as Ad Block Plus?
Any type of "Ad Block" program (Ad Block Plus being the most popular) will interfere with cash back tracking.
