Half.com is a great boon to those of us who are book junkies. I never buy new any more. To keep shipping low you have to try to buy from the same seller. The site doesn't make that easy. There are no synopses of the books which makes it hard to browse. The other downer is that your shopping cart expires in half an hour and sometimes you need more time. But, you can't beat the prices.

Really just a good experience shopping with Half.com. They had a book that was hard to find, and it was cheap. I would shop from them again.

Although many books (especially more obscure science texts) are not available, when a book is listed, the prices are generally pretty good (better than Amazon). Occasionally I will find a nearly out-of-print book being sold for several times the list price. That's outrageous! The major complaint that I have is that half.com makes money on shipping charges when they have nothing to do with the shipping process. Finally, charges sellers 15% commission, which is fairly steep. Overall, though, for buyers, half.com is a great place to look for books, CD's, etc.

Half.com operates much like Amazon's Marketplace Sellers. Different media items (books, music, DVD's, etc) are sold by private parties for prices less than the retail. I have ordered several times from Half.com and have always been satisfiied. Not every item I've looked for has been available, but the purchases I have made have all gone smoothly.
